You can search for industry news and information in Business Source Premier using the current NAICS code assigned to your industry.

Tip: Enter simple keywords into the search box.  Examples: restaurant, hair, photography.

Industry Profiles

The HTC Library's Business Source Premier database is a great place to locate indusry profiles, which include a description of the current state of the industry and outlooks for that industry.

To find industry profiles, first access the Business Source Premier database (linked here), then follow the steps below.

1. Click the Search Options link, below the search box.
2. In the Publication Type menu, select Industry Profiles
3. In the search box, type a keyword or two related to your industry.

Next, use the limits on the left side of your search results to find only full-text industry Profiles within the United States.

1. Click the Full Text checkbox
2. Click the Geography heading and select United States

Reviewing industry news articles from business and trade journals can keep you updated on current trends and happenings within your potential market or industry. Use the Business Source Premier database to search for Industry News using a Keyword search or an NAICS code search.

Industry News - Keyword Search

Within the Business Source Premier database, use the search box and enter keywords that describe your industry.  It helps to keep these keywords simple. 

Example: Coffee AND Industry

Then use the expandable menu options on the left side of your results to narrow your search to specific source types, subjects, dates etc.

Industry News - NAICS Code Search

If you know the NAICS code for your industry, you can also use the NAICS code to find industry news articles in Business Source Premier.

Use the steps below to learn how:

1. Within Business Source Premier, click the Advanced Search link below the search box.
2. Select IC NAICS Code or Description from the drop-down menu to the right of the first search box.
   
3. Enter your NAICS Code in the search box and click Search.
   
4. Use the options on the left side of your results secreen to narrow your search to specific source types, subjects, dates, etc.
